The weekend of the 16th – 18th June saw a vast array of Herefordshire YFC members excelling themselves across the board, at the Royal Three Counties Show.

With over 50 competitions making up the YFC Section with the main theme being ‘Best of British’, including Cake Decorating, Maypole Dancing, Stand Up Comedy, Woodwork and Metalwork. It was a very busy weekend during which the members of Herefordshire Young Farmers pulled together and put on a fabulous display for all to see.

One competition was to ‘Dress Up as Adam Henson’ this was judged by the man himself as the Ambassador for the Show, members from all counties had great fun impersonating him, each competitor had the opportunity to answer questions from Adam Henson.   

Herefordshire had a full entry in all competition, all the efforts from members resulted in Herefordshire taking home the Lord Lieutenant Challenge Cup for the overall Young Farmers winners for the 6th year running. HFYFC also took the majority of the trophies including the Chiv and Jonny Fun Cup, the Meat Traders trophy for Carcase judging as well as the stock judging trophy and the Warwick House trophy for domestic competitions.

HFYFC County Chairman, Fay Thomas, thanked all the members for their hard work, time and effort in all competitions and the YFC Section Committee for putting on a fantastic display of competitions over the three days of the show.

The Three Counties Show also hosted some of the West Midland Area competitions. Teme Valley represented HFYFC in the Cube Exhibit to the theme of ‘Around the World’. A mix of Dilwyn and Golden Valley Young farmers took part in the Efficiency with Safety competition also gaining first place. This competition is based on health and safety, tractor driving skills, ability to manoeuvre an ATV around a course, first aid skills and teamwork.  These competitors will be going to the National Finals which are being held on Saturday 1st July at Staffordshire Showground, Herefordshire will also be taking part in Junior Public Speaking and Junior Reading, Fence Erecting and Clay Pigeon Shooting.
