Herefordshire YFC are this week celebrating the success of one of its young ploughmen, David Pritchard (Craswall YFC), as he returns to the County as British National YFC Vintage & Classic Ploughing Champion.
David qualified to represent the County at the 65th British National Championships, held in Marden, Kent, after his success at the HFYFC Ploughing Match 2014. Out of 9 competitors in his class, DaviCd’s conscientious work led him to victory, using a Zetor 3045, with Ransomes TS90 plough.
As a member of Craswall YFC, David once again made up a strong team from his Club at the HFYFC Ploughing Match 2015, held at Holme Lacy, on Sunday 4th October – where Craswall YFC took home the Major HLF Bucknall Trophy, as overall winners of the ploughing classes.
Once again a great day was enjoyed by all members, friends, and supporters of the Federation – inspiring a new generation of ploughmen and domestic section champions. Many thanks to Tallis Amos Group, for kindly sponsoring the match and kindly brought along a tractor and plough for training purposes.
The highlight of the day was perhaps the ‘Junior Challenge’ – where members didn’t know what was expected of them until 5 mins before they commenced. This year was ‘Live Hungry Hippos’ – a life size version of the children’s board game; much fun and games had by all, especially when the seniors were allowed to participate!
